Adding a captions file

Educational Media and Media Environments product team have been trialling Verbit captions in Mediacentral. We are looking into the viability of adding this to the service as a charged for element.

Adding Captions to your video

During the Upload process, you can add a captions file to your video, this is undertaken in the Associated Files tab and clicking on the Upload Captions button听during the process.

This then allows you to choose and Upload your Captions file

Please ensure your captions file is in either .srt, .vtt or .dfxp format. Once your captions have uploaded you will see the Pencil (Edit Captions) icon or a Bin (Delete Captions) icon.

Once you have added your captions you also have the opportunity to add additional files such as a Transcript, clcik on Browse , add your file and once the bar reaches 100% your file has uploaded.

Then click on the Next button and then听Finish听to upload your file to Mediacentral

Why Caption

Accurately captioning content is a small inclusive step with a dramatic impact on a significant portion of the population. Also, increasingly, video content is consumed on devices like tablets and mobile phones, by adding听captions听to your content means that the user can watch听your video听without disturbing others, or having to guess whether an actor is crying or laughing.
