Help and advice

There are many people across Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ who can help you understand the support available while you are studying with us.

Where to find help

Talk to your departmentÌý

Help is available from staff in your academic Department. Each Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Department is organised differently, so the best place to start is normally your programme’s Moodle site or Student Handbook. These should include contact details for key members of staff, such as Student Advisers, departmental administrators, your Programme Leader, Departmental Tutor and other academic staff.

Your ‘Home’ Department and Faculty are normally responsible for providing support. If you are taking any modules in another Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Department or Faculty, you can also speak to your Module Organiser about the support available locally.


Talk to your personal tutorÌý

You should also have a named Personal Tutor (sometimes called an ‘Academic Mentor’) who can provide academic support and encouragement, and help to answer any questions that you may have about your programme, teaching or assessments. If you are not sure who your Personal Tutor is, please contact your Department.


Make an appointment with Student Support and Wellbeing Services

Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Student Support and Wellbeing ServicesÌýis a team ofÌýwellbeing, disability and mental health staff. They provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which you can discuss any issues that may be affecting your ability to study.

You can make an appointment, attend drop-in sessions or contact them via askÂ鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾. The team also host regular events and activities to help you maintain your wellbeing.Ìý


Talk to Students' Union Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Advice Service

The provides a free, confidential and independent advice service run by a trained and experienced team. They can talk to you about concerns that you might have relating to Extenuating Circumstances, Interruptions, SoRAs, Support to Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ and other forms of support.
