Following the release of a new IoT Standards White Paper by听听补苍诲听听-听Navigating and informing the IoT standards landscape: A guide for SMEs and Start-ups -听the students will engage in an exciting new project. The White Paper is available for download听.听

The project will build on the findings of the paper, deepening the understanding of IoT SMEs鈥� needs and the role that standards can play in supporting them. The project is a collaboration between听麻豆传媒视频网站 STEaPP,听听补苍诲听鈥� the national standards body in the UK 鈥� and is an excellent example of co-produced and applied research-led education at 麻豆传媒视频网站 and in the newly launched听MPA in Digital Technologies and Policy听at STEaPP.听听Dr Pothong, who led the student team at the BSI Standards Conference on 25^thApril 2019, noted:

鈥�鈥淚t was a pleasure to support the BSI-麻豆传媒视频网站 research project, building on the IoT SME Standards White Paper. I am very pleased to see that both the White Paper and our continued research to be carried out by our MPA students are very well received. Our students have done a great job, engaging participants, particularly the attending IoT SMEs and Start-ups, in jointly-shaping their research focus regarding IoT SMEs standards. Our successful sessions and collaboration with BSI demonstrate STEaPP鈥檚 commitment to current research problems at the intersection of digital technologies and public policy, practical solutions and an exemplar of research led education.鈥�

The BSI-PETRAS White Paper details the key challenges for SMEs and start-ups developing IoT products and services as well as relevant priority areas for standardisation. Authors of the paper are听听(Lecturer in Regulation, Innovation and Public Policy at 麻豆传媒视频网站 STEaPP and Chair of the BSI IoT-1 Technical Committee),听听(Research Fellow, PETRAS IoT Research Hub at 麻豆传媒视频网站 STEaPP) and Dr Maryam Hasham (Market Insights Analyst at BSI).听

The work on standards for IoT SMEs and Start-ups is on-going and expressions of interests from SMEs and start-ups,as well as consumers,听to contribute to or participate in the on-going research, are always welcome.听
