Venedikt Erofeev鈥檚 prose-poem Moscow-Petushki (1970) is an alcoholic epic full of existential and metaphysical meaning. The work firmly established its author鈥檚 place as a great Russian writer. In 2019, an unknown interview with Erofeev (1938-1990), conducted in 1982 by journalist (and SSEES alumna) Dr Daphne Skillen, was discovered in London. It is the only recording of Erofeev鈥檚 voice in conversation before he lost it due to throat cancer in the final years of his life.

The recording of this interview will be played during the event. There will be an introduction and commentary by Dr Svetlana McMillin, with the participation of Dr Daphne Skillen.

After the presentation and discussion of the recording, we invite all attendees to stay and join us in celebrating this fabulous discovery.
