Indigeneity, Gender, and Climate Change

I am a PhD candidate at the Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾. My doctoral research focuses on the intersecting discourses of Indigeneity and climate change in Nepal. Using the analytical lens of gender and intersectionality, I explore how Indigenous identity is understood, upheld, and embodied. I further examine how the demand for the recognition of collective rights is framed amidst the unfolding ecological crisis, aspirations for development, contentious landscape of identity politics, and a history of cultural loss and erasure.

Drawing upon oral histories, archival and ethnographic research methods, I aim to contribute to the wider scholarship on Indigeneity, gender, climate change and disaster narratives, and ecological and cultural loss in the eastern Himalayas.Â
