Biography

I am an Associate Professor in Global Governance at the Department of Political Science/School of Public Policy, 鶹ýƵվ, where I amalso the Director of the 鶹ýƵվ Global Governance Institute. I haveheld research fellowships at various universities, including University of Queensland, University of Gothenburg, New York University and Harvard University Law Schools. Iholda DPhil in Politics from Nuffield College, University of Oxford.

Research

My research interests include the theoretical and empirical study of global politics (international relations (IR)/global governance), global policy implementation, as well as complex system dynamics, with particular expertise in the substantive domains of human rights, climate change and global risk. I have published in various IR journals, including International Organization, American Journal of International Law (AJIL), and European Journal of International Relations, among others. The AJIL article received the International Studies Association’s Diplomatic Studies Section Best Article Award 2018. I have received external research funding from the EU Horizon 2020 scheme, the British Academy and the Nuffield Foundation. I have recently completed a major research project onglobal politics and complex system dynamics and my most recent book is (published with Cambridge University Press and co-authored with Charan Bal, David Coen, Julia Kreienkamp and Paramitaningrum).

Teaching

I teach ‘Global Governance’ (PUBL0061) on the MSc in Global Governance and Ethics, as well as ‘Human Rights Politics and Practice’ (PUBL0035) on the MA in Human Rights.
