Job description

Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Department of Science and Technology Studies seeks to appoint a number of Postgraduate Teaching Assistants for the 2024-25 academic session to assist with undergraduate and postgraduate taught modules.

The main duties of the post may include class teaching, any associated preparation, a weekly office hour, plus timely coursework marking and feedback. You may also be expected to mark examination scripts but payment for this will be extra and calculated on the number of scripts marked.

Key responsibilities

  • Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
  • Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
  • After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours;
  • Marking students' work;
  • Giving feedback to students

Requirements for role

The successful candidates will be pursuing a postgraduate degree, preferably associated with Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Department of Science and Technology Studies or studying a related subject. Previous teaching experience is an advantage.

All PGTAs must complete training within the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Arena One scheme, normally available in September. This will be in addition to guidance or mentoring provided by the department for their PGTAs.
