The installation of the crane coincides with the start of piling works, as the foundations for a new extension are embedded. Alongside the new build, the existing Charlotte Street building is being refurbished, with almost three quarters of the strip out completed and 80% of the scaffolding installed to undertake improvements.

The £22million refurbishment and extension of the student residence will create space for 291 people, with ensuite accommodation and fully accessible rooms for disabled students. In addition, new 'cluster blocks' will create shared spaces and develop a sense of community. Recreational facilities,Ìýincluding an integrated café,Ìýwill be introduced on the ground floor.

Due for completion in September 2018, its constructionÌýincludes some of the latest sustainable technologies, helping to reduce Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾'s environmental impact.Ìý
