14 student services you should know about: support when you need it most

Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ is here to support you throughout your studies and to provide assistance where possible to ensure your university experience is safe, enjoyable and rewarding.

Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ has a range of support services available to students, both centrally and within your department. Below you will find a list of some the services you may find useful. For further information on the below services, including contact details, please click on the links provided.

1. Gower Place Practice

It is essential to register with a local doctor while you are in London. is an NHS general practice located on the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ campus which provides general health care, a contraceptive service and a full nursing service. You can register with them if you live in one of the local postcodes which they cover, and are registered to a course that lasts longer than 6 months.

2. Student Centre

The is based in the Chadwick Building and is the main face-to-face point of contact for student enquiries. The Student Centre is open Monday - Friday from 10:00-16:00.

3. Student Psychological Services

is an accessible and effective professional resource for students who are facing emotional and psychological problems. The team is made up of qualified and experienced psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and cognitive behavioural therapists.

4. Student Funding team

The Student Welfare Funding Adviser offers advice on a range ofÌýissues including budgeting your money, bank accounts, financial assistance fund, student loan company funding, loans, bursaries and more. The Student Funding Team offers a drop-in counter service which operates from Student Centre 2 in the Chadwick Building, Monday - Friday from 10:00-16:00

5. Student Disability Services

Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ is committed to supporting disabled students to achieve their academic potential. The aim of Student Disability Services is to enable you to study as independently as possible during your time at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ by ensuring that your physical, mental and other learning needs are met.

6. International Student Support

The International Student Support Team provides support to all non-UK students at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾. Areas of support include; the International Student Orientation Programme (ISOP), opening bank accounts in the UK, healthcare, travel in London, immigration information, police registration and assistanceÌýwith all welfare-related topics.

7. Transition Mentor Programme

Every first year undergraduate student is assigned a for their first term at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾. Transition mentors are later-year students from within your department and will help you settle into life at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾.

8. Chaplain and Interfaith Advisor

The is here to provide pastoral care and support for all members of college, staff and students alike; to provide support to faith groups, and to enable Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ to be a place where differing religious views can be discussed with respect.

9. Personal Tutor

Every student at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ has their own Personal Tutor, who will normally be a member of teaching staff. Your Personal Tutor is there to support your learning and development at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾, as well as provide personal welfare support where needed

10. Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾'s 24/7 Student Support LineÌý

Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾Ìý students can access confidential emotional support, advice, and information through Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾'sÌý24/7 Student Support Line. It's a free, confidential wellbeing support service available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.Ìý

11. Students Transitioning Gender

Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ is committed to providing support and understanding to students who wish to take, or have taken, steps to present themselves in a gender different to their birth gender. Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ recognises that this can be a complex time for an individual and would wish to act in a sensitive and supportive way by having helpful policies and practices in place to ease any transitional period.

12. Student Mediator

The Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Student Mediator is responsible for advising and assisting Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ students with the resolution of complaints, involving staff or other students or services of Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ which the student has been unable to resolve through informal means.

13. Students who are Pregnant, Adopting or are Parents

Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ is committed to supporting students who are , throughout the course of their studies. We encourage you inform your Personal Tutor, Departmental Tutor, Programme Tutor or Principal Supervisor (Research degrees students) as early as possible to allow us to support you in the best possible way.

14. Student of Concern

If you are concerned about the wellbeing and/or safety of a fellow student, you can complete a . Within 24 hours of receiving the form, Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Student and Registry Services will send a request for a meeting with the student.
