Gain confidence to meet challenges of uni life: Being@Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ workshops ucl.ac.uk/personal-development-workshops" target="_self">Being@Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ - a pilot series of personal development workshops and talks for Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ students that will be running on weekday afternoons and evenings throughout the academic year.Ìý

Weekly workshops scheduled after reading week include:

Belong@Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾:Ìý developing social skills

Communicate@Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾:Ìýdeveloping assertiveness skills

Settle@Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾:Ìýmanaging the transition to university

Thrive@Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾:Ìýdeveloping emotional resilience

The Being@Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ programme has been designed to help students get the most out of their time at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾: to help them to draw on their strengths and talents, and to give them the confidence they need to meet the emotional challenges of university life as they come up.Ìý

Practical skills

Participants will be able to meet other students facing similar challenges, and will have the chance to share ideas and experiences in a supportive, confidential setting; they'll take away new practical skills that will help them make the most of their relationships with fellow students, staff and the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ community.

The workshops are funded by the university's , andÌýare a response to the university's commitment to increasing the recruitment of studentsÌýwho come from groups that have traditionally been under-represented in further education.Ìý

As part of the programme, we've also scheduled a series of one-off interactive presentations on Monday evenings during Term 1 that will give students a chance to find out more about resources for personal development that are available to them at the University, including presentations on the work of Student Support and Welfare and an information and advice session on Managing Finances.
