This module is aimed at students who have some prior knowledge of vectors, matrices, and the calculus of partial differentiation. It is designed as a follow-on course to NSCI0005 for natural sciences students, but could follow on from any first course in mathematical methods with appropriate content.

Description

This module is tailored towards students who are combining mathematics with scientific study. Emphasis is on topics and techniques that are needed for applications such as bioinformatics, electromagnetism, fluid dynamics, modelling of epidemics or turbulence.

Students will study double and triple integrals, vector calculus including line and surface integrals, gradient, divergence and curl and theorems including divergence, Stokes's and Green's.Ìý Students will also study matrices, eigenvalue problems, vector spaces and linear algebra techniques.
