Description
This module explores the educational impact of digital technologies and infrastructure through their capacities to both amplify and disrupt conventional forms of pedagogy and socio-spatial configurations. It focuses on various aspects of the digital world, including virtual environments, augmented learning, artificial intelligence, the Internet of things, platforms and data analytics, and digital justice issues. In particular, the module will critically examine the changing role of learning spaces and learning technologies where educational processes are going online and becoming hybrid, and integrate the oft-conflicting perspective of multiple societal stakeholders. Students will consider real world-based scenarios where digital technologies are intersecting with societal grand challenges, so as to assess the related spatial. pedagogic, and socio-economic implications.
The module aims are to:
• Develop a critical overview of how emerging digital technologies are impacting across the education sector globally;
• Critically analyse examples of digital technologies in particular learning contexts and projects, as well as frameworks to Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý betterÌýunderstand their implications for teaching and learning, for learning space planning, design, and management, as well Ìý as forÌýsocial and digital justice, sustainability and inclusion;
• Acquire tools and skills to enable strategic, pedagogically, and socially sound decision-making about technology-mediatedÌý Ìý Ìý Ìý education processes and spaces.
