Description
This module is concerned with the aetiological mechanisms of raised intraocular pressure and glaucomatous optic neuropathy and the different tools and techniques that can be used in the diagnosis and monitoring of these conditions.
The module covers the practical methods and current evidence base supporting established and evolving treatments, medical, laser and surgical. Primary and secondary disease will be discussed, and the module will cover more common adult diseases as well as more specialized aspects of the diagnosis and management of the disease in the paediatric setting.
The epidemiology of the disease will be discussed to put the risks of the disease into context along with the risks of the various management options. This module offers you focused engagement with current clinical and research advancements in this area and provides you with the opportunity to develop your subspecialty knowledge and understanding of glaucoma, and an in depth theoretical and contextual knowledge of the variants and current practice in therapeutic management approaches and processes for glaucoma.
