Description

This is the dissertation module for the MA Educational Planning, Economics and International Development. ÌýThe module aims to support students with the planning, research and writing-up of their dissertations. ÌýStudents also receive the support of their individual dissertation supervisor on their specific topics. ÌýDissertations for MA Educational Planning, Economics and International Development are expected to focus on an education-related issue in the context of one or more low- or middle-income countries. ÌýIn line with the focus of the programme, the dissertation should address an issue of educational planning and/or or should apply economic concepts and methods to educational issues, which may include the use of quantitative methods.Ìý

This module aims to support the development of a research topic and the selection of appropriate research methods for use in data collection and analysis. ÌýIt also supports students to consider and address ethical issues in their research. ÌýThe module introduces key features of quantitative and qualitative research methods, including in relation to data collection and analysis, as well as introducing approaches to literature-based research studies. It is not, however, a comprehensive research methods course. ÌýThe development of specific research project design and methodology is supported by the individual dissertation supervisor. ÌýÌý
