Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Abroad Year:
This module represents the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Abroad Year of an MEng International Programme. The Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Abroad Year is a year of study taken at an approved international partner institution in Year 3, which replaces the equivalent Year 3 study at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾. Students resume the standard Year 4 curriculum when they return to Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾.

Aims:
The educational aims of the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Abroad Year follow exactly those of their existing MEng Computer Science or MEng Mathematical Computation programme, with the additional aims of extending the educational experience of students through: (a) continuing advanced education in computer science, (b) experience of education in a different cultural and/or linguistic setting, and (c) access to high level teaching and research expertise from outside Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾.
Intended learning outcomes:
Students will have studied modules / courses at an appropriate breadth and depth to enable them to progress to Year 4 of theirÌýMEng International Programme, whilst at the same time having benefited from the experience of Higher Education in a different linguistic and/or cultural setting.
Content:
Students studying abroad must follow a programme that satisfies the following criteria:
- Be of overall of equivalent depth to that of their Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Year 3 MEngÌýprogramme.
- Be substantially composed of courses in computer science.
- Have a significant engineering orientation (as defined by UK-SPEC) andÌýbe compliant with the QAA subject benchmark framework.
- Be of equal workload to that of theirÌýÂ鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Year 3 MEng that is, using accepted equivalence measures, be of 120 credits.
- Be formally assessed by the host institution and the results of the assessment independently reported to the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Abroad Tutor.
- Include taught modules/ courses, that should not consist solely of project work.
Requisites:
To be eligible to select this module, a student must: (1) be registered on a programme and year of study for which it is formally available; and (2) have been approved to commence the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Abroad Year.
