Award for London’s best medical student

27 July 2017

A medical student from 鶹ýƵվ Medical School has won the highly prestigious University of London Gold Medal. Melanie Jensen was the successful winner of the annual competition for London medical school

On receiving the award, Melanie said:

“Being nominated for the Gold Medal viva was an incredibly exciting, albeit daunting, opportunity. The viva is notoriously broad in its scope of topics so it was difficult to know how to prepare.

I approached the viva with an attitude that has been instilled in us so adeptly at 鶹ýƵվ medical school: an inquisitive enthusiasm for clinical dilemmas and a logical approach. I found the viva challenging yet academically stimulating - and felt the breadth of clinical training at 鶹ýƵվ had prepared me well.

I am utterly thrilled, and very grateful, to have won the competition. It is a true testament to the excellent teaching at 鶹ýƵվ medical school, and I enter life as a doctor hoping to emulate the compassion and clinical expertise I have observed in the clinicians who have taught me.”
