Meet our Equity Lead (Disability), Steve Perkins.

Steve Perkins has been at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ for over 36 years and is a Professor of Structural Biochemistry with strong interests in experimental and computational studies of human antibodies and the complement system of innate immunity.

Steve is profoundly deaf. He has often interacted with the Disability teams at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ in various roles. He was the Chair of the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Disability Committee, then after this ended, he became co-Chair of the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Staff Disability Forum, both dealing with issues of disability in the workplace over several years. He has met many disabled colleagues at all levels through interactions with the Enable group, as well as before that time, and has visited the DCAL team in Gordon Square. He has introduced training on deafness awareness issues at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾.
