Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Amity Seaton was baptised in St Elizabeth in 1817. Her father was Martin Seaton, from whom she (and her siblings William and Lucy Facey Seaton) inherited the Doncaster estate. She and Michael Myers had several children in St Elizabeth from 1834 to 1852. Esther Seaton Myers and Alfred Seaton Myers were baptised in 1834 and 1835 (parents forenames not recorded). In and after 1840 there were numerous baptisms, parents Michael Myers and (variations on) Amithe/Amity; in 1844, for example, parents’ names were given as Michael and Amathe Seaton Rose Myers. Her death was recorded in the Gleaner on 18 September 1898: ‘Died: Myers at Portsea, St Elizabeth 9th inst. AMITHY, widow of the late Michael Myers, of Portsmouth, England. Aged 84 years. The Death Register for 1898 recorded her husband's name incorrectly.
