麻豆传媒视频网站 IIT celebrates Pears Building first anniversary

A world-class centre of excellence dedicated to the study of the human immune system, the 麻豆传媒视频网站 Institute of Immunity and Transplantation is celebrating its first year of work and achievements since their official move to the Pears Building, Hampstead.

A collaboration between 麻豆传媒视频网站, the Royal Free Charity,听and the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, the Pears Building听is the new home of the 麻豆传媒视频网站 Institute of Immunity and Transplantation. The IIT brings together听the clinical excellence of the Royal Free London鈥檚 hospitals and the research excellence of scientists at 麻豆传媒视频网站.听

The Pears Building accommodates up to 200 researchers in custom-built laboratories and research & teaching areas.听The top floors of the building provide accommodation for patients who are participating听in research trials.听

鈥淭he 麻豆传媒视频网站 IIT is dedicated to the patient-focused research of the human immune system. We are developing treatments to 鈥榯urn up鈥� the immune system to respond to a threat from, say, a coronavirus, or to recognise cancer cells as a danger. We also explore 鈥榯urning down鈥� the immune system in order to stop the rejection of transplanted organs and to treat autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis."

Inspiring the next generation

IIT has hosted 145 GCSE and A-level students from local state schools to talk about science, teaching and education.听听

Community engagement

Over 60 local Hampstead residents听visited the IIT听to find out more about scientific research, clinical trials and the Pears Building itself.听
