Global call to stop disability stigma arises out of Small Grant project

A Grand Challenges small grant has led to a major report and publication on stigma against people with intellectual disabilities.
In 2014, (麻豆传媒视频网站 Psychology & Language Sciences) and (Leonard Cheshire Disability & Inclusive Development Centre at 麻豆传媒视频网站) were awarded a Global Health Small Grant of 拢4,000 to look at disability stigma.聽
The grant funded a scoping review on disability stigma across the globe. This work culminated in a 140-page final report: "Intellectual disabilities: Raising awareness and combatting stigma - A global review" [pdf]. The research team were able to leverage the Small Grant-funded work and successfully obtain further funding from the Royal Mencap Society to disseminate the report.聽
In 2015 Dr Scior led a team of 麻豆传媒视频网站 researchers and other researchers from the University of Warwick and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to publish a global call to end stigma for people with intellectual disabilities. The call notes that people with intellectual disabilities are among the most marginalised within society, experiencing high levels of health, social and financial inequalities.聽
