DFID is preparing a call for a research programme on “African Cities As Systems: unlocking urban systems that work better for all”. The objective of this proposed GC application is to establish a strong, interdisciplinary network across 鶹ýƵվ to bring forward a bid for this and other potential large-scale collaborative research on urbanisation in Africa.

A two-day workshop will develop current urban theory debates on “value” in conversation with interdisciplinary perspectives on African urban development to establish the analytical approach which will make 鶹ýƵվ’s bid distinctive

  • A cross-disciplinary 鶹ýƵվ network and an innovative conceptualization of urban value
  • A collaborative research bid on African urbanization to DFID
