Biography

Parama Chaudhury is a Professorial Teaching Fellowatthe Department of Economics, andPro-Vice Provost (Education - Student Academic Experience)at University College London (鶹ýƵվ). She is also the Founding Director of the dedicated to researching, implementing and evaluating new teaching and learning strategies in economics.Professor Chaudhury also serves on the Teaching and Learning Committee of the and the .

Research

Parama's research focuses onlabour economics, specifically inequality and technological change. She isalso interested in economics education especially the role of technology in higher education.


Teaching

Professor Chaudhury teaches the following modules in the Department.

  • Economics - Introduction to Economics (based on )
  • An Introduction to Economic Thinking (optional course for first years, using Team-Based Learning (TBL) format)
  • Industrial Relations(second/third year course in personnel economics and unions)
  • International Trade (third year course covering trade theory, immigration, and the empirics of trade)

Education Consultancy

Parama currently leads the CTaLE Team in designing anddeliveringbespoke economics training courses for UK government departments.

Courses include:

  • Fundamentals of Economics:a two-day course exploring the fundamentals of micro and macroeconomics. Designed to help policymakers understand economic theory and it's implications as well as our state-of-the-art research findings
  • Economics for Foreign Policy:a blended course, designed exclusively forHM Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. It covers the basics of empirical methods used in economics, as well as field specialisms including globalisation, macroeconomic crises, the environment and economic development.
