Dr Catherine Mummery on Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøվ’s groundbreaking research into gene silencing treatments

Dr Catherine Mummery is the Head of Clinical Trials at Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾'s Dementia Research Centre.

Dr Catherine Mummery is the head of novel therapeutics at the Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Dementia Research Centre and is also a consultant neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

She is leading a world-first trial involvingÌýa ‘gene silencing’ drug (BIIB080) thatÌýhas shown promise inÌýsafely and successfully lowering levels of the harmful tau protein known to cause Alzheimer's disease.

Alongside her work in finding new treatments, Dr Mummery is also working on a groundbreaking trial that would enable MRI scans to be completed in a fraction of the time they currently are. She explains the importance of this in the following video:
