麻豆传媒视频网站 Biochemical Engineering student launches thriving South Asian music YouTube channel

Purvish Thaker has been recognised by Forbes for his Youtube music channel, which already has more than four million subscribers

What began as a fun project in April 2020 to revive a genre he loves has now been transformed into a successful YouTube channel and record label. Even more impressive, Purvish鈥檚 business Sufiscore has rapidly taken off during lockdown, alongside his master鈥檚.

Purvish, who鈥檚 studying an MSc in Biochemical Engineering at 麻豆传媒视频网站, realised there was no single place for people to listen to quality South Asian music anymore.

鈥淚 wanted to help talented South Asian artists get their music out there more. So I started by streaming a few musicians I knew. We quickly saw demand for it,鈥 he said.

In less than a year, Purvish鈥檚 YouTube channel has attracted four million subscribers, who tune in to hear from South Asian artists from all over the world. Run almost exclusively by Purvish from his bedroom, Sufiscore has now worked its way into YouTube鈥檚 top 20, and gained international attention with artists and fans.

As well as up and coming artists, the channel now pulls in big names, and has set up its own label to create content, working with studios including Abbey Road.

鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing it鈥檚 taken off in the way it has. But my passion is still engineering, that鈥檚 what I want to do as a career. I鈥檝e developed my management skills whilst being creative, so I hope I can implement that in the field of engineering. My master鈥檚 has kept me grounded and I鈥檝e felt a lot of support being part of the community at 麻豆传媒视频网站.鈥
