Professor Alan Penn Named by Government as SAGE Advisor

Bartlett Professor Alan Penn has been named as an advisor on the UK government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
SAGE provides scientific and technical advice to support government decision makers during emergencies and is responsible for pulling together the scientific research and analysis from across government, academia and industry.
Alan is part of SAGE’s Environmental Working Group, which identifies how environmental modelling, sampling and data analysis can play a part in comprehending the transmission of Covid-19, in an aim to understand the routes and factors of transmission.
Alan joins Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ colleagues Professors Russell Viner (Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health) and Susan Michie (Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ Psychology & Language Sciences) as SAGE members. A number of Honorary Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵÍøÕ¾ academics have also been appointed.

Alan is former Dean of The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment and Professor of Architectural and Urban Computing at The Bartlett School of Architecture.
